How to make your blog

Overview

There are several components that need to be completed for the Preliminary Task.  You are expected to create a school magazine front cover and contents page using original images. Look at the following guidelines in order to ensure that you complete all components successfully.

One of the most important things to remember is that you should be documenting every stage of your work, through end of sessions reviews, screenshots etc onto your blog.  This blog forms a large part of your marks (see attached mark scheme).

Step by step guide:

  1. Create a google account for specific school use only
  2. Sign up to blogger using your google account
  3. Create a new blog and select a template
  4. Select the 'Simple' template which you can then customise
  5. Give your blog the title 'AS Media Studies: G321 Foundation Portfolio'
  6. Create five separate pages and entitle them:
    1. Preliminary Task - Research and Planning
    2. Preliminary Task - Construction and Evaluation
    3. Main Task  - Research and Planning
    4. Main Task -  Construction
    5. Main Task - Evaluation
  7. These pages can then be linked using the layout tab.  In order to create a menu bar of separate pages, you must add a pages widget (click on add a gadget in the layout page).
  8. Each time that you add anything to these pages, it must be saved by clicking on 'Update' and you must click 'Publish' in order for your changes to be seen online
  9. Look at the contents of each of my five pages.  This is what I am expecting you to create.  You will have allocated time in lessons and I expect you to continue working on this outside of the classroom.

Remember: this is your qualification; the hard work now will ensure your future success!

Inserting PowerPoint Presentations

Once you have completed your PowerPoint presentation on the four existing school magazine covers and contents pages, it can be added to your Research and Planning Page.  It has to be saved in a particular way in order for it to be viewed online:

  1. Save PowerPoint presentation as normal
  2. Click on 'File', 'Export,' 'Change File Type,' 'JPEG Interchange Format' and 'Save As'
  3. Give the File a new name and they can then be inserted to your blog as JPEG images

We also expect to see you using other programmes to present your Research and Planning creatively.  You might decide to use any of the following:
  • Prezi
  • Slide Share
  • Emaze

Please date every entry on your blog so that it becomes a real documentation of your learning journey!
